How It Works

Volume grown,
not inserted

Jayeonsan Gluteal Acupuncture uses no medication and introduces no thread or other material. It works through acupuncture alone, at the acupuncture points that strengthen the gluteal muscles, and is designed to build muscle volume in the buttocks.

Because it encourages your own muscle to fill out naturally rather than relying on an artificial implant or filler, there is no drug tolerance to consider and no implant to be placed.

Muscle Structure

The three muscles that
shape the buttocks

Volume, line, and the balance of the pelvis are shaped together by the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and gluteus minimus. Because each of the three has a different role, the approach differs according to which muscle is lacking.

Anatomy of the gluteus maximus

Gluteus maximus

01

The thickest and largest of the three, responsible for the body's power. It acts as the main engine when real force is needed — running, climbing stairs — and holds the upper body upright rather than letting it pitch forward. It determines overall volume, projection and lift as seen from behind.

→ Responsible for volume and lift

Anatomy of the gluteus medius

Gluteus medius

02

Sitting on the outer side of the hip, this is the muscle that keeps the pelvis level. As you walk it holds the pelvis level rather than letting it drop, and protects the knee. When it weakens the side hollows and hip dips become visible, which makes it the key muscle for filling hip dips from within and for left-right and pelvic balance.

Easing hip dips · gluteal asymmetry and pelvic balance

Anatomy of the gluteus minimus

Gluteus minimus

03

The smallest of the three, lying deeper than the gluteus medius — the seat belt of the hip joint. It assists internal rotation of the leg and holds the femur precisely in the hip joint so that it can move safely, taking charge of pelvic and hip stability.

→ The foundation of pelvic and hip stability

The gluteus maximus takes care of volume, the gluteus medius of hip dips and pelvic balance, and the gluteus minimus of hip stability. Jayeonsan Gluteal Acupuncture therefore looks at which muscle is lacking and varies the approach in the order pelvic obliquity → left-right balance (gluteal asymmetry) → volume and easing hip dips.

Jayeonsan Gluteal Acupuncture,
what makes it different

Because it builds muscle rather than filling with fat, size and lift may come together.

Size and lift together
01

Size and lift,
together

Buttocks filled with fat alone carry the worry of sagging, however large they become. Because buttocks that grow through development of the gluteal muscles are lifted at the same time, the line that results is a far more attractive one. Size and lift together are what make a well-shaped result.

Improved results from training
02

Your training
works better too

When the gluteal muscles lie dormant, training tends to thicken only the lower back and thighs. Training after the gluteal muscles have been activated through acupuncture can mean the training itself becomes more effective, which is why Pilates instructors and fitness competitors whose glutes are naturally weak also come for treatment.

Correcting asymmetry
03

Asymmetry
addressed too

Because this is acupuncture that works on the gluteal muscles, correction of gluteal asymmetry is also possible. Pelvic obliquity is likewise addressed through adjustment of the gluteal muscles.

Why training alone may not work

Because the muscle you
were born with is small

Calves make it easy to picture. Someone born with large calf muscles has definition without training at all, while someone born with small ones keeps a straight leg however much they run or however long they stand.

The buttocks are the same. When the gluteal muscles you were born with are small, training often fails to strengthen them, and other areas such as the lower back and thighs develop instead.

One-to-One Direct Care

From assessment to treatment,
by the Director in person

Even with the same concern, the position and development of the muscles differ from person to person. The Director checks the change at every session in person and adjusts the acupuncture points accordingly.
